STILL NO SNOW!!!! How bizarre!!!! Its a helluva lot milder this winter methinks!!
Me and baby Brack came in earlyish again this mo for some lovely yummy hay. The Worrier seemed to be a bit possessed and decided we woz gunna go on a hack! When I had a lesson yesterday! And just the two of us! Jeez, this will be interesting I thought!
She tacked me up super quick (TW has no interest in either of us looking smart hehehe), I'm still touchy about my hooflets being picked out (that damn fronty lefty again) but cos the ground was frozen in the field my tootsies were clear of any crappola!
Ever the worrier, she sent some kind of message to ZoZo's owner in case owt happpened to us on our jaunt, she reckoned we'd be gone about an hour...surely not?? We've never been that far before without company!!!
So off we set, Brack got some extra hay to keep him quiet but the old fecker still insisted on screaming his head off as we left! I did my best Arab impression, huffing and puffing (watch out people of the village I WILL BLOW YOUR HOUSE DOWN!!!) through the village and onto the main road ( I decided I wanted to walk on the grass verge!). then right turn and onto the bridlepath. A kind soul let us pull out in front on them , think the could tell TW was nervous.
Now I've been this way many a time, even taking the lead on a number of ocassions and helping less confident horses but doing it on my own is another thing. Ain't that wierd?? We passed the stubbly bit where we had our lesson and TW was getting cross cos I was wiggling about all over the place....Note to TW - IF YOU SIT STRAIGHT AND RIDE PROPERLY I DONT WIGGLE!!!!
TBH she annoyed me so much I tried to turn back a few times (napping she said - that ain't a nap lady, a nap is what I should have been having in the stable!!) but we agreed to keep going. In that way I'm a lucky guy, some peeps might have smacked my appley ass when I tried to turn for home, not TW though :) She did say that maybe now I'm a big boy that I need to start behaving a bit better (so do you love!!) and she got a bit sad cos she thinks she's ruined me( I used to be really sensitive and sharp) but I think she understands really that its the EPSM that makes me like this.
We got into a nice rhythm, I was striding out quite nicely if I do say so myself! It really helps when she keeps the reins the same length and her hands as a pair. The nasty hairdryer things weren't on which was good so we went past the farmyard spaceship place, across the coally type stuff and got as far as the house! Woohoo we'd never been this far alone before!!
Cheeky mynci wanted me to keep going!!! We went past the house and then my feet started to hurt :( I thought she'd let us go back but she just let me have a wee stretch and a nibble of grass and lo and behold I felt a bit better...so on we went! Feet really shouldnt hurt in winter - stupid grass!!! Down the bridlepath, round the wee graveyard (where we saw some bit hawk thing! Amazing!) then back along the bridlepath. On the homeward stretch I got a bit grumpy and tried to trot a few times but wasnt allowed :( Got told off for pulling faces too - DUH I WAS TRYING TO TELL YOU THERE WAS A DAWG BEHIND!!!!! Loser!
When we got back to the village she kindly jumped off me and let me have a cool down. Very kind. Then more hay and my grub! Yum. We even got some hay and grass in the field to keep us warm! Amazing!!
She's a good broad bean really!
TW is getting all brave Frank. Looks like you have been teaching her well.
